The Jermaine Hopkins Story

Jermaine R. “Huggy” Hopkins an American television and film actor began his acting career as a teenager. At age 15, Hopkins fell into the acting business when his mother brought him to a casting-call audition in New York for the The WB sitcom The Wayans Bros best known for his roles as Dupree. Thereafter, Hopkins featured in the 1989 film Lean on Me, as Thomas Sams, a misguided drug-abusing high school student.  His next project Juice, had him starring as Steel alongside Omar Epps, Khalil Kain and Tupac Shakur.

"Working consistently finding those right projects to attach myself to is a challenge."

Be sure to check out Jermaine's interview in our October/November “RESPEK” issue on JAESTRETE to read more about how just being a kid from Newark made it to the big screen. Available for digital and print.
